How to reply to a 5-star review (without sounding like a bot)
Five-star reviews deserve better than “thanks for your feedback”. How to answer warmly, specifically and without a copy-paste template.

A five-star review is the easiest kind to answer and the easiest to waste. “Thank you for your feedback” tells the reviewer — and everyone reading — that you did not really read it.
1. Use the detail they gave you. If they mentioned the pistachio gelato, the corner room or the mechanic who explained the bill, mention it back. That one detail is what separates a real reply from a template.
2. Keep it short. Two or three sentences is plenty for a happy customer. Long replies can feel like marketing copy.
3. Do not ask for anything. They have already left the review. Asking them to share it, change it or recommend a friend makes the reply about you.
4. Match the register of the review. A casual review from a regular deserves a warm, informal reply. A formal review from a business traveller can be a little more polished. Your voice profile should already describe this.
5. Name a person only if your policy allows it. Mentioning a server or stylist by name can be a nice touch, but check that they are comfortable being named publicly.
Restaurant example: “Thank you, Sofia — it made our day to read this. The pistachio gelato is new this month, so there is another reason to come back. — The team at Ocean Grill”
Hotel example: “Thank you for the kind words about the corner room and the breakfast team. We will pass that on — it means a lot. We hope to welcome you back on your next trip. — The team at [Hotel]”
Salon example: “Thank you, Maya. We are so glad the colour came out the way you wanted, and we will tell [stylist] you said so. See you at the next appointment. — The team at [Salon]”
Garage example: “Thank you for trusting us with the diagnosis, and for mentioning how clearly it was explained. We would rather spend five minutes explaining than have you leave with a surprise bill. — The team at [Garage]”
The same reply shape works on Google, Trustpilot and Tripadvisor. The platform changes the audience, not the principle: read the review, answer the specific thing, and sound like a person. Ratingly's AI review management applies that shape to every new review in your voice.
